Lucy Liu was born in the US. She is an American actor, singer and voice actor. An attractive and intelligent actress she serves as an inspiration to numerous Asian actors who aspire to be successful in Hollywood. After a series of initial appearances in some popular series she achieved fame by joining the crew of the cult comedy series Ally McBeal where she played the villainous Ling Woo. The fame she gained from the show was translated into film roles such as Shanghai Noon or Charlie's Angels. In Kill Bill Volume 1, Quentin Tarantino, she gave an impressive performance in the role of Japanese crime lord O-Ren Shii. In the same time frame, she played the lead in a few flops in the field such as Rise: Blood Hunter. After that, she started to voice prominent characters in animation films such as Kung Fu Panda. Mia Mason's small-screen role as a character in Cashmere Mafia did not produce any results. Southland was a critically acclaimed series of police dramas which featured Liu in recurring parts, helped to establish her role as an actress. Liu carefully selects roles to avoid being a stereotype in an industry which is extremely competitive. Although she is proud of her heritage however, she is not letting it limit her imagination.
